Hi Tremal

No, there were two families named Waites at Lund.

The Chapmans are related to Lydia Pearcy Waites (1862-1958) who married Thomas Chapman (1861-1930) in 1883

Peter

I am connected to the Waites family of Lund by marriage via the Grubb and Chapman families. I have just added the branch containing George Richard Waites and his wife Margaret Ruth Wrigglesworth and their sons Leslie Waites and Sydney Richard Waites (b. 21 Jan 1919, d. Jun 1993 Bridlington District).

Hi Peter.

Unless I've made a mistake, Lydia Pearcy Waites's brother George Frederick Waites (1854-1928) is a grandfather of Tremal's Sydney Richard Waites (1919-1993).

Hi Ian,

Good to hear from you.

I will check the Waites query out and get back to you next week.

Just digressing, did you notice that I have now edited the family history sheets for:

a) William Michael Chapman (1809-1838) - page 1

b) William Chapman (1782-1861) - page 1

c) Jane Chapman (1811-1843) - page 5

I hope the above has not inconvenienced you!

Kind regards,
Peter

Thanks Peter.

I think I may have the details you posted but I'll cross check them just to be sure. I've realised that the "View unread posts" function doesn't highlight edits to previously viewed posts. Perhaps "Mr Admin" needs to add a new function?

NB: I've spotted a small error. On the William Michael Chapman (1809-1838) history you have his wife quoted as Jane Chapman (1811-1847) instead of Jane Chapman (1811-1843)

Kind regards,
Ian

Hi Ian,

I can now confirm your findings.

George Frederick Waites (1854-1928) was indeed the brother of Lydia Pearcy Waites (1862-1958)

a) George Frederick Waites - son of - William and Harriet Waites - baptized September 19th 1854.

b) Lydia Pearcy Waites - daughter of - William and Harriet Waites - baptized 13th April 1862.

Source: LUND, ALL SAINTS PARISH RECORDS - East Riding Archives - Ref: PE 70

According to information on the 1911 census, George Frederick and Elizabeth Waites had eight children, one of whom was George Richard Waites - born Collingham Bridge, West Yorkshire in 1885

George Frederick Waites married Elizabeth Rispin in 1874

Kind regards,

Peter

1888 Eveline Waites - Lund
1889 Frederick Waites - Lund
