Wallis family of Bainton

Post by Judith » Tue Oct 25, 2005 11:36 am

Please does anyone know what happened to Robert Wallis born in Bainton in 1841? He married Jane Witty in Bainton in 1863 but Jane then married David Stonehouse in 1877. I cannot find Robert Wallis in 1861 or 71 censuses and I cannot find his death. I'd be grateful for any info. Thanks. Judith.

It looks like your Robert Wallis is in Bainton in 1871, with family; father Jabey / 44 / wheelwright; mother Ann / 50; and brother John / 22. Robert is 19, and a joiners apprentice. No sign in 1871 at the moment.

Many thanks Martin and Chris. If you find him in 1871 census or see his death/burial anywhere I'd be greatful if you could let me know.

Just to let you know that I found his burial in Sheffield. He died in the street next to his brother in 1869.
Thanks for trying to help.

Judith, where exactly did he die in Sheffield? I have a Wallis/Brown marriage and the Browns were up and down between Sheffield and Bridlington like yoyos. My g/g/ grandfather stayed there but other's came and went.

Although I know Robert Wallis died in Freedom Road, Sheffield on 20 February 1869, I never did find out where he was buried. Has anyone found his burial place please? Thanks
