MR JOHN BARLEYCORN"S TRIAL- THE GOOD PEOPLE 0F POCKLINGTON WERE HIGHLY AMUSED BY WITNESSING THE BAD SIR JOHN BARLEYCORN, BY THE YOUTHS OF YORK, AT THE TEMPERANCE HALL,ON THURSDAY WEEK. THEY STOPED AND WERE MET AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE TOWN, AND LED IN PROCESSION , HEADED BY THE POCKLINGTON BRASS BAND, AND WENT THR0UGH THE PRINCIPAL STREETS, WITH BANNERS AND, TO THE HALL , WHEN THE TRIAL COMMENCED SIR JOHN OF COURSE WAS CONDEMED AS A EVAL TO MANKIND THE HALL WAS CROWDED TO SUFFOCATION, THEY ALL WERE HIIGHLY DELIGHTED JULY 13TH 1844
