WRIGHTS of Wilfhome Farm

Post by asher » Fri Jun 20, 2014 9:19 am

I am researching the WRIGHT family who lived at Wilfhome Farm in the early 1800's. This is what I have so far:

George (farmer at Wilfholme) and Elizabeth WRIGHT had three children baptised at Beswick church - William on 25 Feb 1817, Ann on 17 Sept 1820 and Thomas on 7 Sept 1823. By the time of the 1841 William was working in Hull as a hairdresser.

A Directory dated 1840 shows George WRIGHT as a farmer at Wilfholme along with a Lee HARDY, and a 1851 directory shows the farmer as Lucy WRIGHT. A website showing Lockington graves shows that Lucy was the widow of George who died in 1840 aged just 26 yrs old, (born about 1814) and he was the son of George and Mary of Arram. Lucy died in 1862, and they had one daughter Ellen C. who was born in 1839.

Can anyone help me to piece together this family? Is the father of William and the father of George Jnr the same person with a different wife? What happened to George and Elizabeth?

Any help, advice or suggestions would be gratefully received.

Anne

Thanks Peter.

I assume then that they are the only ones recorded at Lockington church.

Thanks Peter I have got that. I am trying to link this George to William, or locate Williams parents.
