WILLIAMSONS OF WEAVERTHORPE

Post by ken123 » Thu Aug 10, 2006 6:33 pm

Can anyone help with information about a HILDA WILLIAMSON.She was age 6 in 1901, so would have been born about 1895 in Weaverthorpe. I have found her on the 1901 Census living with her Grandparents - George and Mary Williamson, other than that I don't know anything about her. I have had great assistance for my other queries, so I am hoping someone will come up trumps with this one.
Many thanks for reading this. any help at all will be most gratefully received..

Hi ken
Hilda Jane Williamson was registered in the June quarter of 1895 in Driffield registration district. I think you will have to send for her birth certificate to find out who her parents were but I wonder if she was Mary's too?

Hi Nell. Thanks for your input. The original thought was that she could possibly be Mary Janes daughter, but there is also the possibility she could be Edith Williamsons daughter. Edith shows up on the 1891 Census, but isn't there on the 1901 Census. Now this may mean nothing, but it could also mean she left home in disgrace and left her child behind - just another train of thought. Anyway, of course you are right, the only way to prove Hildas parentage is to get a copy of her birth certificate.

Though possible, wouldn't Edith have been a bit too young? I notice there is an Edith Mary Williamson age 21 working as a servant to the Ringrose family in Weaverthorpe in 1901. Is that her do you think?
