Mary Ireland born 1853 Wold Newton was the daughter of George Hunter Ireland born about 1821 Wold Newton and Elizabeth Staveley born about 1823 Reighton. George and Elizabeth married in about 1842 in Bridlington.

George and Elizabeth had five children:-

William born about 1842 Wold Newton
Ann born about 1844 Wold Newton
Hannah born about 1846 Wold Newton
George Hunter born about 1850 Wold Newton
Mary born about 1853 Wold Newton

I have information on the spouses and children of all of Mary's siblings and also information on George Hunter Ireland born 1821 father and grandfather.

I think that Mary's husband Thomas Cooper died in 1891. Do you know whether Mary remarried again? I think I have found her on the 1901 census but am not certain whether it is her.

I have her as marrying a George Lonsdale b c1861, though there is some confusion from the census, that has him as a brother, despite them both shown as married.
I then checked and they married in the Driffield area between July and September 1895
Thomas Cooper and Mary married Jan-March 1871 in the Bridlington area.
What info do you have on George Hunter Ireland?

Haven't been on here for a while - started the thread in 2000. My email address has now been updated and I am living in Australia now.

This John IRELAND was b: 21/8/1763 in Wold Newton, the eldest son of 10 children. His parents were my 5th Great Grandparents as follows:

Richard IRELAND b:5/7/1732 Weaverthorpe, d:17/2/1806 Wold Newton.
Jane WARD b:1/4/1736 Beswick, d:2/3/1809 Wold Newton.

Both Richard and Jane are buried in Thwing.

Peter

Hi Peter

Richard and Jane Ireland were also my 5 times great grandparents. I would really appreciate any information you are willing to share with me regarding Michael Ireland who went to Canada in 1819 and George Ireland who went to Australia from Canada in the 1850's.

I would be more than happy to share with you any information I have regarding the Ireland family in the Uk which you may not already have.
