East York FHS records

Postby searching » Sat Nov 02, 2013 2:32 pm

I have been told that there are plans to make available pre 1837 East York records on line. Is this true or wishfull thinking ? I know Familysearch and Ancestry have entered into an agreement but Familysearch records are far from complet.

Does anyone know where I could find records for Weaverthorpe and Helperthorpe, I just cannot seem to find them under these names so I thought maybe they come under a district or such.
Would appreciate any help
Cheers Tracy

Hi Tracy.

You may find some pre 1837 parish records on Family Search
https://familysearch.org/

Records after the September quarter of 1837 can be found on FreeBMD
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

Post 1837 Weaverthorpe and Helperthorpe records are listed as part of Driffield Registration District
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/driffield.html
It's not possible to identify one Driffield District parish from another, unless you buy the relevant certificate.
