Does anyone have the words to the poem abouty Driffield trip day?
I think it started
Each year we have trip day at Driffield
All't bairns go by train down to Brid
---------
And a penny to spend for each kid.

I'd also like to know about one that started
Here we are at oor town end
Wi a shoulder o mutton and a crown to spend

I have a feeling that was something to do with children scrambling for pennies that were thrown from hot shovels into the street.

Here we are at ower toon end
A showlder o' mutton and a bob ta spend.
Ip-Ip-Ooray!

This was shouted by children on New Years morning in Driffield and the shopkeepers threw out pennies.

As for the trip day poem cant help you with that one.
