Objections have been raised to a play area at River Head to prevent children playing at the canal side. Land proposed for the site was where a depot had been and the land was contaminated with asbestos. Asbestos is known to be highley carcinogenic , so what precautions, were made to protect local residents when the depot was demolished, and what precautions are currently in place so that contamination of the land does not harm people who go on this land or develop it in the future? Can someone advise?
