| Has the world gone mad! they are going to spend lots of money building a polyclinic in Beverley with in patient beds! yippee. Why cant they use Bridlington Hospital? Scarborough do not appear to want this facility, hence the reason for running it down, so why not let East Yorkshire PCT have it. OK its not in Beverley, or Driffield but it would certainly improve health care facilities over in the Bridlington and Driffield Area. Beverley could have the same facilities as Driffield. It would be the poor doctors that would need to travel a bit further instead of patients. What do you think??? |

Here is a message circulated this week by Mick Pilling:-
"From Mick Pilling 21 January 2009 To Whom it May Concern Read this story and weep, I am appalled, disgusted and dam well annoyed; the NHS give the go ahead to destroy the services at Bridlington Hospital then, give £17m to Beverley to build a new Hospital, why could they have not upgraded Bridlington, the site is there, the facilities are there, the infrastructure is there; does the left hand know what the right hand is doing? They have just spent millions of £'s revamping Castle-hill etc which is only a few Miles away from Beverley. MP welcomes new Beverley hospital Wednesday, January 21, 2009,
Beverley's MP has said the town can "look forward" to modern healthcare facilities following the announcement of a £17m new hospital.
Graham Stuart, who represents Beverley and Holderness, also said the prospect of the new community hospital would not have come about without the work of campaigners. He was responding to the announcement by NHS East Riding of Yorkshire, the county's primary care trust (PCT), that it plans to build the new 30-bed hospital in Swinemoor Lane in the town, replacing Westwood Hospital. He said: "I'm delighted that the PCT has finally made a decision about where it wants the hospital to go. "We can now look forward to a state-of-the-art facility which will serve the town for many years to come. "None of this could have been achieved without the hard work and dedication of hundreds of Beverley residents who campaigned tirelessly against the PCT's then plan to shut beds at the Westwood site. "People like Barbara English and John Bird did a superb job taking the fight to the Trust and we've now been rewarded with a new hospital." Regards Mick Pilling.....spitting bullets"
Here is a copy of the Email I have been sending to everyone I could think of since I received Mick's message:-
"Can you please tell us WHERE IS THE JUSTICE IN THE FOLLOWING? Beverley have the best Hospital in the County on their doorstep while we are shunted off 20 miles away to one of the worst hospitals in the COUNTRY!!! can anyone possibly justify the decision they made made???"
In spite of Mick's message having been sent to all the local media I notice that NONE of them have chosen to mention it!!!
