Dave, Mick (Driff School 67 to 71)and Tim Newton, all of ex RAF Driffield fame from 68' to 75' Anyone remember Alan Bremner, Alan Coates, the Makins, Proudlocks, etc etc? We all have great memories of all the pubs particularly the Railway Tavern, Bell, Red Lion, Highwayman etc. Are they all still there?

Yes I remember the Makins & Proudlocks. Ian, Glen and Alan have all moved away. I was at Driff School 1969 onwards. The Proudlocks are still in Driffield. One works up at the Alfred Bean. The other I believe works at the Sports Center. Do you remember Marion Thomson who once went out with Micheal Bull and was with the darts team from the Buffet (Doris and Alec. Do you also remember the Carter's Dave and Mick who were in Scouts and they had a sister if I remember correctly was called Helen? * * |

Thanks Derek. Yes, I remember all of them, we all had some great under age binges in the buffet. My brother Dave went out with Marion for a while. Spent summers working in Twydales and Broadacres turkey farms.....yuk! How about Lesley Evans, Candy something who lived near the railway station, Ron Budzak and Alan Coates

Hi Sid, I'm still in the good old RAF, also married (26 years) with 1 son, Paul (24) who is currently doing a degree at Sheffield Uni. Currently living in Belgium and having a great time quaffing the excellent beers over here. Do you have any idea what happened to Alan Coates?

Hi Sid, I don't remember you being musical, Dave Robbo was the guy who played the guitar as I remember. As for me, I'm still in the good old RAF, I got married to miriam whilst working in Malta in 76', we have one son Paul who is 24 years old and seems to be a professional student at Sheffield Uni. Do you have any idea what happened to Alan Coates?

Just discovered this fascinating site. remember Alan Bremner and Candy very well. also Phillip Dutton Dave MacMillan, Carole Norton. painting the old raf building pink, that was an expensive laugh. and the stories about Harry Benson? What a man. Ross Weekes was my form teacher in 1970.

Hells Bells! This is like the Twilight Zone..I was at Driff on the camp 68-71 (age 13) before my old man got posted to Cyprus..where to start?
David Dervey (his mum was a nurse right?...) and Les Shipley, little Michael Pugh (fell off a swing at my house), The Makins (Alan in my year), Stewart Dutton (football night and day, punched me in the eye once, lived round the corner) and big brother Phil, The Firmagers(!!!), Alison Ludlum (snogging in the school library, sorry Alison, no I'm not), Helen Oxtoby, Paul Wright, Carole Parker (liked her, went out with her for 24 hours, got dumped), Petra Robbins( liked her too, got dumped in 12 hours), good mate big Steve Craven, big Mick Robson (good mates), Andrew Robson ( white sandy hair?), Mark Jagger. Michael Tice, Andrew Towse, William Rowntree, Vincent Orzeweski, er, er..I was in Miss Uncles class 1S,..Youth club on the camp, harassing the bus conductor on the bus, junior school also, YC etc etc. Back in UK after 15 years in Hong Kong with family . Need to lie down now.

Mentioned in the first entry on this topic I managed to get in touch with Mike Newton and have also been in touch with Allen Bremner. I haven't managed to get in touch with either 'Sid' Thompson or Ian Makin, both of whom I remember well. My mother still lives in Driffield and I get there occasionally to see her. My sister Brenda now lives near York, My brother Eric lives in Nafferton and my younger brother Brian lives in Beverley.
