I am searching for information about my surname - Ushaw. I believe the Ushaws lived in Driffield throughout the nineteenth century, the earliest record I have is the marriage of James Ushaw and Martha Huddleston on 7th April 1817. I think some of the family may have gone to live in the Sculcoates area.
Can anyone shed any light on the surnames Shimmins or Shemmuir?

| Mary Ushaw (Bapt. 1838) married Jabez Knaggs Witty (Baptised 27 Apr 1834 at Middleton-on-the-Wolds, - Died June quarter 1875 Driffield District) in 1859. They had at least two children in Middleton-on-the-Wolds - James Tom Witty (c1862) and Harriet Witty (c1866) |
